When I first started to explore floral design as a career I spent countless hours surfing the internet looking at website after website for inspiration, education and perspective. During one of my marathon surfing sessions I came across a video on Martha Stewart’s website, it was of Michael George arranging a mass of carnations. I was floored, not only was he using carnations (my favorite flower) but he was creating the most beautiful arrangement with them. I was hooked, I knew I would love being a florist if I was able to create beautiful work like I was seeing on Martha’s site. Of course, I had to know more about this designer, so I bought the book Simple Elegant Flowers and devoured his website, watched every video of him I could find. I love how simple his arrangements are and how by massing a single type and color of flower together it makes the flower and arrangement so much more important.
Mr. George sends out a weekly floral menu to his clients. Below are a few examples of the menu. I love getting this in my inbox every week. (click on images to enlarge)
Here are a couple of website where you can find some more information about Michael George:

One of my all time favorite designers! Love the simplicity of a monobotanical arrangement en masse…always gorgeous and sophisticated (and expensive!)…
